Elegant leotard

Nice to make, comfortable to wear, perfect to look at. The seamless CF is a nice touch for rhythmic gymnastics.

This pattern was very easy to use and was a good fit across all of the sizes made.

I really enjoyed using this pattern. The size range was fantastic and this pattern is now my 'go to' unitard. The unitard was to make a costume for our Open Pom team and we needed a pattern without a centre front seam. We also needed sleeves; Jalie were only too happy to suggest using the sleeves from pattern 3026 and give advice on how to fit the two patterns together!

Once the costumes were finished all of the girls commented on how comfortable and secure the unitard was to wear. I removed the keyhole back and used a zip. The back is made of stretch mesh, the body from stretch velvet and the cuffs at the wrists and ankles from lycra.

Thank you Jalie.

Easier than expected to make

I made this for an aerial performer friend and her measurements gave me a spot on perfect fit. (She was between two sizes and I chose the larger one.) This was my first unitard and only my second time sewing with lycra. I found the directions clear despite my being a sewing novice.

I did make a few modifications. First, the keyhole back is small. We enlarged it to make donning and doffing the unitard easier. Second, because I couldn't find elastic that was close enough to the nude color of the mesh, I created a bias binding from the mesh instead in order to finish the edges. Lastly, because the patterned lycra we chose felt a bit thin, I lined the pants with a second layer of solid colored lycra.

I liked the pattern so much that I bought a whole pile of additional ones this week.

Adjust sizing for lycra

The sizing was a bit too small compared to other Jalie patterns I have used. But other than that with a few adjustments it turned out great.
